Bordering Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia, Slovenia is a smaller country that doesn’t get nearly enough tourism for how conveniently located it is. Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital city, is located less than four hours away from some of the world’s most popular cities to visit, including Budapest, Vienna, and Venice. If you want an authentic taste of Eastern European culture that ties in easily to a trip to other major cities in Europe, Slovenia is a no-brainer. Visiting in the summer is amazing, but the winter in Slovenia is on another level.

From mouth-watering venison goulash and mead to snow-covered streets that belonged in the Chronicles of Narnia, our trip to Slovenia felt like a dream. In fact, the snowy weather is what made the trip so magical, and even earned Ljubljana a spot on our list of the best Winter Wonderland destinations in the world! If that weren’t enough, the church of Mary the Queen located on Lake Bled is probably the best place in the world to get married. Seriously.
