Ireland

Did you know that St. Patrick wasn’t Irish, but Halloween is?

This country is Ireland.

The Republic of Ireland, which is part of the European Union, covers most of the actual island named Ireland. While the upper sixth of the island is actually a different country named Northern Ireland and is part of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland usually just goes by Ireland anyway. This country is known worldwide for Guinness, Celtic traditions, its rolling green countryside, and…St. Patrick’s Day? While Americans celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as a giant party, Irish people simply celebrate it as a special religious holiday. St. Patrick wasn’t even Irish! One holiday that does originate in Ireland, though, is Halloween.

Dublin is the capital and largest city in Ireland, and it is the home to both of Ireland’s most internationally famous beverage brands – Jameson and Guinness – and the iconic Temple Bar. Outside of Dublin, many visitors head to the striking Cliffs of Moher, the western city of Galway, the southern city of Cork. Irish people are known for their incredible hospitality and kindness, and adventuring around Ireland’s charming countryside is never a disappointment.
