Did you know there is a country in Europe whose capital city directly borders two other foreign countries?

This country is Slovakia.

Slovakia is a central European country that doesn’t get nearly enough tourists as it should given its convenient location. Slovakia is so central, in fact, that there is a Slovakian village that claims to be the geographical center point of Europe! One of Slovakia’s claims to fame is that it has the highest number of castles per capita of any country in the world, and many of them are absolutely stunning.

Bratislava feels like a fairytale. From the elegant castle overlooking the city, to the gorgeous architecture throughout the central area, to the random, playful statues scattered around, Bratislava is definitely unique. It is also located less than an hour from Vienna and just two hours from Budapest, making it extremely accessible. While Slovakia might not be at the top of many travelers’ bucket lists, it is a beautiful country that is just waiting to be explored.
